Preface

Nailfold videocapillaroscopy (NVC or CAP) is a non-invasive yet highly-sensitive tool to assess the microvasculature in a number of connective tissue diseases. It has established its predictive role in assessment of Raynaud’s phenomenon by identifying those who are at risk of progressing into scleroderma / systemic sclerosis spectrum disorders. Its inclusion into the 2013 classification criteria of SSc by EULAR/ACR further highlights its essential role in a rheumatologist’s clinical practice. Since 2014, HK society of Rheumatology has sponsored candidates to Genoa, Italy to attend the bi-annual capillaroscopy work-shop organized by EULAR. And in 2016, the first local capillaroscopy workshop was held in Hong Kong. Hopefully, with the resolution of the pandemic, we can welcome our fellow members in the second workshop real soon.
