Preface

Scleroderma, or systemic sclerosis, is a rare multisystemic autoimmune disorder. The hallmark of the disease is the thickening of skin, which can be localised or diffuse, resulting in physical disability and functional impairment. Raynaud’s phenomenon is commonly encountered by patients with scleroderma, often years before the onset of the non-raynaud scleroderma symptom. Concomitant involvements of internal organs such as lungs, heart, kidneys and the gastrointestinal tract can lead to significant morbidities and mortality.

The Scleroderma SIG of HKSR was established in 2020. It seeks to arrange education activities such as seminars and practice workshops in the future, with the aim of promoting interests and enhancing knowledge in scleroderma among HKSR members.
